Berlin opera chamber orchestra
The combination of both Ensembles and other artists from various Berlin orchestras into this Chamber Orchestra has enabled the realization of nearly every kind of repertoire. BOCO brings together experienced musicians with the new generation of talented young graduates, creating a refreshing symbiosis of experience and innovation.
Music director Martín Baeza-Rubio attaches great importance to the close collaboration with his musicians in the creation of the concerts and thus creates a particularly trusted and familiar energy that creates space for new, previously unheard sound experiences.
The focus of the repertoire ranges from baroque to modern classical music, highlighting opera literature and the rediscovering forgotten composers and rarely played, contemporary music. It is important to BOCO to preserve the musical heritage of talented European composers whose works are rarely performed.Through close cooperation with internationally renowned soloists such as Jacquelyn Wagner, Manuel Blanco, Lena Haselmann and Johannes Martin Kräntzle, BOCO concerts are also enriched by arias and instrumental soloistic works.
In collaboration with Helge Bartholomäus and Jochen Hoffmann, Martín Baeza-Rubio has already released 4 CDs (cycles "Sound of the World", various live recordings of concerts of German, Spanish and Brazilian compositions and the monograph "Los Silencios de la Luna "by Pilar Jurado). Also with the Kammerensemble Classic they have released 2 CD recordings , with arias and overtures, arranged especially for them "Rare Verdi" (Grammy Award nomination), "Bel Canto" and "Three Poets" at MSM London.
The BOCO gives concerts in the famous chamber music hall of the Berlin Philharmonic and in the famous for its incomparable acoustics Jesus Christ Church in Berlin Dahlem, in which for many years the u.a. Deutsche Grammophon, EMI and DECCA make their recordings. The orchestra has also been heard in other locations in Germany, Italy and Spain.
